Carowinds

We are leaving for our cruise in a few short days, so what better way to end up our weekend than to devote an beautiful (overcast) fall afternoon to our children! I'm still trying to figure out how I will make it 8 days without my little ones... So....
We spent the afternoon at Carowinds with our favorite family of five!
Aubree enjoying her favorite activity.. sucking her thumb and playing with her ear
Grayson must have thought they needed and extra worker for the new coaster

Holby's and Us on the Dora Train! The kids don't care that they took the whole story of Dora out of the ride.. I'm being really cheesy, b/c the guy that took our pic told us to say "cheesy boogers" and I couldn't get over the fact that he just told us to say "boogers"

Aubree likes the train

Riding the carousel

I think you can actually see Grayson saying Cheese in this pic!

Daddy's Girl
The Boys.. no we didn't mean to dress them alike
The Girls
Mena deep in thought

Oh yeah, I guess I have to mention that the big kids (mommies and daddys) got to play a little too! The hurler used to be fun when I was 19.... man I'm old!

SNAKE

Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Friday night as I was going to hang the boys curtains in their room downstairs in the new house, guess what greeted me at the bottom of the steps.... A baby copperhead!!!!!!!!!!!!! PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was screaming at the top of my lungs to Brandon and he had the CD playing so loud he couldn't hear me...... PANIC!!!!!! He finally heard me. He was such a hero and "took" care of it for me! I was crying and wanting my old house back and a refund of course, but that's not possible. We moved in on Saturday thanks to the help of the Holby's and Grammy and Papa... We couldn't have done it without them. We took some major precautions against anymore little visitors and gave our landlords a call as well. They had only seen one in the house in 12 years.... Oh I'm sure! I made Brandon go look for snakes downstairs all night on Saturday while the boys slept... I just need to relax. Anyway, we put mothballs everywhere and invested in some Snake-a-way for any future guests that aren't invited. I'm dreaming about snakes every night, so needless to say I'm not getting much sleep! I also have a zillion boxes to unpack as well. I just don't know where to start! We won't be staying here more than a year and will be looking for something a little less wooded! Sigh.....

Update on John

Gretchen called a few mornings ago and let us know that they didn't get good news at the doctor and John will be starting treatment at Duke in the next week or so! Please continue to keep him and his family in your prayers. As expected, everyone is having a very difficult time with this news. Gretchen couldn't tell me too many details since she was so distraught. Just pray!!! Thanks!

Please say a Prayer

This is going to be quick! We got a phone call last night that one of our dear friends found out that he has a brain tumor. John and Gretchen were one of our best "couple" buddies in college and they are still our very close friends. John will be going to the oncologist today to determine what's going on! Please lift him up in your prayers the first chance that you get. They don't know anything right now and are hoping to find out something today! He has a baby girl three days older than Aubree and he just lost his father in May to a long battle with MS. Just pray for him please!!!!! Thanks!

Life a little Chaotic??? An Update!

It has been a little crazy around here lately! Aubree was sick all last week with the fever/rash virus........... I hate the word VIRAL when you take them to the doctor! She was extremely clingy and whiny all week, which led to me getting nothing done for our big move! This morning she woke up sooooo happy and rash free!!! I am so glad to see my precious little girl smiling again! I also finally weaned Aubree two weeks ago in preparation for our upcoming cruise. I was sad, but she transitioned fine!!
Anderson is just super whiny these days due to no sickness at all!!! :) ... maybe just being a 5 year old! It's really getting to me! Maybe after the move, things will get better. He argues with every thing we say and doesn't like to take no for an answer!!! But, of course I still love him to pieces!!! It's just exhausting! On the positive side, he really loves school and is getting so much better at writing. He gets lots of practice since he has to write his name on all of his work... Probably takes him a little longer than his classmates to write his long name!
Grayson has become quite the little talker lately! He is so super smart and amazes me everyday! He has fallen in love with puzzles in the last week and does them constantly! We are so proud of him!
Anderson and Grayson seem to be really excited about the move. Anderson had to make a countdown chain to hang in his room. I really hope that they like the new house and transistion well.
On to the move!
Our house is in the biggest mess right now preparing for our move. There is no need to clean it, since the inspection and appraisal are over. Our offical move date is this Saturday, but we will be getting the keys earlier in the week and plan on moving some things before Saturday. We close on our house on the 15th and then we are off that weekend to the Clemson/Wake Forest game and then to Miami for our MUCH needed vacation!
Congrats if you made it this far!! Off to more packing!

Good Bye Guiding Light.. Dear Friend!

I can remember very vividly in my childhood spending the 3:00 hour with my mom glued to CBS watching "her" soap, Guiding Light! I learned a lot about the world growing up watching it! I remember being about 8 or 9 years old and being so upset that Reva and Josh couldn't stay happy. I asked mom why things just couldn't work out for people in Springfield. She proceeded to tell me if everyone was happy, then there wouldn't be any thing to watch the show for! I continued to watch our soap through middle school, high school, and college when I had the chance. I wasn't ever able to watch it while I was teaching, but caught right back up to it once I was a stay-at-home mom. In the last year, since life has been so busy I haven't had the chance very often to sit down and watch it, but I have caught back up with it in these last few weeks. You know you can go a few years without watching one, and in one or two episodes know everything that has gone on since you quit watching it!!! Today Guiding Light will be over! CBS pulled the plug on it after 72 years! I will miss you dear friend and thanks for the memories for me and my mom and for introducing me to some of life's lessons.
